The most common fleas that live in the UK are the cat flea, dog flea and the human flea. Although the human flea is rare. When your pet gets fleas it can cause them a lot of discomfort.

There are a few signs to look out for to indicate you may have problems with fleas;

  • Your pet scratching
  • Seeing fleas or flea droppings in the coat of your pet.
  • Bites on yourself or other members of your household these are found around the ankles and the bottom part of the leg.
  • If you’ve been stroking your pet and notice red blotches on your arm.
  • Actually seeing them jumping

Fleas are normally flattened (laterally) to allow them to move through fur, they are also wingless and their colour varies .

Cat fleas are normally around 3mm in length where dog fleas are around 2mm in size.
